As Soon as Possible – Fiery Hummingbird

A performance of Domenico Scarlatti’s Sonata K427 by Angela Hewitt

A Brief Statement on As Soon as Possible – Fiery Hummingbird
The title of this work is a translation of the Italian instructions Scarlatti wrote on this Sonata for the keyboard player to follow. The painting takes on the colors of a type of hummingbird. The June 2017 issue of National Geographic covered the study of hummingbird flight, featuring newly developed technology for capturing images of their wings, including videos of their flight in slow motion. The speed and impulse of the sonata is associated with this type of hovering.
