Music of the Future

A performance of Domenico Scarlatti's Sonata K27 by Mikhail Pletnev
Music of the Future depicts the last section of Sonata K27, a work that I have painted at least 20 times.
It takes on the colors of a tender, mystical, and exquisite painting by Peter Doig.

The text on my painting refers to objects within the painting - the mysteriously absent moon, its reflection on the water, a canopy, a marketplace, and a lavender shore filled with activity. I know the pattern of the Sonata very well, so I used it to try to reach into Doig's magical landscape and it represents a longing to be there myself.
