Vermilion Insatiable Peace

A performance of Frederic Chopin’s Berceuse in Db, Opus 57, by Maurizio Pollini

The Berceuse is a gentle lullaby with a persistent figure in the left hand. Vermilion is the most beautiful of all colors to me. The text on this painting – We are apart in the grassy places – comes from the W.B. Yeats poem, The Wanderings of Oisin. It refers to the undying land, the eternal summerland, and the entities that live there.
